@wearedigitaldiplomacy: 🌐 Western diplomats will meet to discuss 🕊️ peace ideas with 🇧🇷 Brazil, 🇮🇳 India and 🇺🇦 Ukraine in a 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabian summit next weekend, according to news reports. Though 🇷🇺 Russia is not expected to attend, 🇺🇦 Ukrainian and 🌐 Western officials hope the effort could help shape future 🕊️ peace talks. Representatives from 🌐 30 countries will meet in 🇸🇦 Jeddah on August 5 and 6 to discuss the 🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia-Ukraine war, “🌐 Western diplomats said that 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia was picked to host the second round of talks partly in hopes of persuading 🇨🇳 China, which has maintained close ties to 🇷🇺 Moscow, to participate,” the Wall Street Journal reported without naming the diplomats. 🇷🇺 Russia and 🇨🇳 China say they have been deepening economic ties in an effort to push back on the West. In May, 🇺🇦 Zelensky made a surprise visit to Jeddah to attend the annual Arab League summit and to meet with 👑🇸🇦 Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — often referred to by his initials, MBS. The meeting came at a time when Prince Mohammed is carving out a new role for himself on the global stage, portraying himself as a bridge-builder and mediator. In February, 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia announced $400 million in humanitarian aid for 🇺🇦 Ukraine as the country’s foreign minister 🇸🇦 Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met 🇺🇦 President Zelensky and top Ukrainian officials in Kyiv. #zelensky #digitaldiplomacy
