The BEST swimming hole in Pennsylvania & you won’t believe the color of the water… or the magical waterfalls 🤩💦🧚🏻👇🏻 📌 Add this to your Pennsylvania outdoors bucket list & share with your best adventure pals! 📍Rock Run Falls in Loyalsock State Forest’s McIntyre Wild Area is such a hidden gem in the PA Wilds! It’s one of the most swimmable waterfall areas in the entire state - with glowing blue-green water, natural rock ledges, rope swings and scenery that seriously feels straight out of a fairytale. Here’s what you need to know before you go: 🗺️ There are 3 main swimming areas, each with a small gravel parking area beside the short trails leading down to the water. The trails are super short, but a little steep in areas. The dirt road in is manageable for most vehicles when conditions are good. 💦 Upper Rock Run Falls - The deepest swimming hole with the largest waterfall. It’s probably the most adventurous due to its higher rock ledges, but it’s a breathtaking beauty even if you don’t want to jump in! 💎 Middle Rock Run Falls - This has some of the prettiest water I’ve EVER seen in Pennsylvania - the blue-green color is unreal! There’s a smaller waterfall, the coolest rock ledges and natural rock pools. It’s the largest of the three swimming areas and still gets plenty deep in sections. 🌿 Lower Rock Run - A calmer area with less thrill and no waterfall, but the swimming hole itself is crystal clear and decently sized! It’s the most lowkey and peaceful. ⚠️ Water depth, current and conditions can change dramatically depending on rainfall, so ALWAYS check the water yourself before swimming or jumping. 🌿 A quick note on Leave No Trace: Pack out every piece of trash, even fruit peels. Please don’t carve into trees or rocks, stack rocks or disturb wildlife. Be respectful of other swimmers, and skip the soap - even biodegradable soap can harm aquatic ecosystems.
