@lunamatatas: What is up with POSSESSION = LOVING in relationships? Signs of a thriving relationship are going to look different for different people, but that doesn’t stop us from tuning into the emotional and physical conditions that make us feel safer in relationships. We can challenge and de-romanticize behaviours that promote power and control over others. Your autonomy shouldn't feel endangered in a relationship. I teamed up with The SAFER Project (run by @wisdom2action and funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada) to address gender-based violence (GBV) in our relationships and how it impacts Queer and Trans youth uniquely. As Queer and Trans people we haven’t had media and cultural representations of safe, thriving and happy relationships that look like the ones we want to be in. We internalise cis-hetero patriarchy too, putting Queer and Trans people at risk of intimate partner violence, especially young people. Let’s talk about possession. We’ve all witnessed Keke Palmer’s partner and Jonah Hill be controlling, possessive and entitled - but masquerading it as boundaries, respectability, loyalty. Making demands on your partner’s autonomy actually creates barriers to trust, intimacy and love. Safety in relationships isn’t simply a checklist of things to look for, it’s a constant curious and messy exploration in our relationship with ourselves. While our behaviour with other people might have an impact on how our partner's feel - using that feeling to control and dictate conditions under which you will or won't be loved, is manipulative and coercive. Here are ways possession, entitlement and control might be showing up in our relationships: 🤔Do you feel safe and relaxed in their presence or worried about what will set them off? 🤔Do you feel pressured to limit, edit or sacrifice parts of yourself like identity, the way you dress, your friends, work, hobbies? 🤔Do you feel obligated to give affection, schexx, money or other resources to your partner or worry they will leave you? Conflict is a part of any relationship, but control doesn't need to be. 👉🏽Sign the pledge to fight GBV against 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth at saferproject.ca #WeDeserveSAFER #pegthepatriarchy #couplesgoals #lgbtcouples #lgbtqtiktok #lgbtyouth #relationshipadvice #jonahhill #healthyrelationship

The way to change this is to change to a world view of balance.

OK so you blame heterosexual people for your problems? Isn’t that what you just said? I’m so not interested in your BS

This started with monotheism and the abrahamic cults, world view of value, value changes autonomous beings into possessions
