@cbcvancouver: A program is helping vulnerable people find purpose and pride through work, its organizers say. Members sheltered by Ruth & Naomi's Mission in Chilliwack, B.C., many of whom are experiencing homelessness and addiction, are cleaning city streets four days a week, gathering at 8:30 a.m. with their equipment before heading to downtown streets. In June, the province provided $125,000 to help expand the program, which is a partnership between the shelter and the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association. Organizers say the program also helps people find other jobs, permanent housing and connect with the community.
