@earthtouchtv: For giraffes, drinking is no easy feat. To quench its thirst, a giraffe must splay its front legs and stoop its long neck downwards to get to the water's surface. Giraffes can be vulnerable to attack in this position, so they need to be sure to scope their surroundings out before committing to a drink. And then there's the issue of blood pressure. To pump enough blood to their sky-high brains, giraffes have very high blood pressure, which they seem to be able to control when lowering their heads to drink. Finally, there's the challenge of actually ingesting water. One theory is that giraffes do this through a 'plunger pump', using their tongues once to pump water into their mouths and then again to pump that water from their mouths into their long necks. And you thought drinking water was easy! #giraffe #giraffedrinking #EarthTouchTV #EarthTouch #wildlife #nature #wildlifedocumentaries #naturedocumentaries #wildanimals #live_love_wildlife #animals #natureaddict
