Love telling people that rocks have a story to tell. The original history books.

Your relationships are one of the most powerful influences on your nervous system. A bad relationship can keep you chronically dysregulated, but a good one can have a deeply positive effect. That is the power of co-regulation. I was single for more than 10 years, which added to my stress and feelings of never having a safety net. I had no support system, which led me further into my over-achieving, over-producing, over-working mindset. I was also a single mom who had to keep everything together. It’s no surprise that my nervous system went all the way through stage 5 burnout. I truly thought there was no one else in the world who could help me. I’ve been blessed with having met a wonderful man this past year, and have learned the power of co-regulation. Healing is not a straight line and my own journey winds back through some difficult issues from time to time which can leave my feeling dysregulated and sometimes scared. But in those moments, I have learned that my nervous system can “borrow” feelings of safety from his regulated and calm nervous system. There is feedback loop that winds from one person through another, and that safety feedback loop can be shared. This ☝🏻is a great example of what that looks like. If you don’t have a partner to do this with, you can hug a family member, a friend, a child, or even your pets. (Cats and dogs are great co-regulating companions) Co-regulation is a powerful tool. It has contributed greatly to my own healing success. Try it next time you feel yourself on the edge and unable to bring yourself back. Several minutes of this typically brings my heart rate down and recenters my breath. ❤️ The best part…it’s totally free. Thank you Miguel Aguirre for caring enough to help me heal 🥰 #HealingJourney #nervoussystemregulation #coregulation #nervoussystem #womensupportingwomen
