pov: ni-ki is your first boyfriend back when you two are in high school. you thought that he'd be the first and last man you've ever loved because at the time, it felt so perfect, real, and genuine to the point that you always thought that he was the one for you and you were destined for each other. but that was a long time ago. you ended what you had with him because you realized that you should focus more on your priorities and chase your dreams. now, you just consider it as a puppy love. a love intense at that time but ultimately a stepping journey. now that you're in college, you're still studying in the same school as him. whenever you cross paths with him, you just avoid his gaze like you didn't know him, trying to bury in the past what you had with him. for sure, he buried those memories with you from the past too. you heard a lot about him from the students, saying how much they're crazy over ni-ki and how charming he becomes. you tried to ignore it, but as time passed by, you found yourself getting drawn to him again, like how you felt back then. it feels like the feeling you once had starts coming back to you. it's insane, you thought to yourself. you knew that you'd completely gotten rid of your feelings a long time ago, but here you are feeling that familiar flutter in your stomach whenever you see him. you felt scared of where these feelings would lead you, so you tried any way possible to get rid of them. you avoided him in the hallway; you ignore everything about him, but nothing seems to work. the night of the prom came, and there's this really nice guy in your class who asked you to be his partner. this is the first time someone had asked you, so you gladly accepted it. on the other hand, you heard that ni-ki didn't ask any girl to be his date. you wonder what the reason is. when you two arrived at the venue, you scanned the room, looking for a particular person. when you spotted ni-ki from a distance, his gaze was already on you. you quickly looked away, wondering why he's staring at you like that. meanwhile, your date excuses himself to the bathroom. you waited for him patiently, looking around, seeing people enjoying the festivities, the pulsing music through the air. after a while, your date came. his expression says that there's something wrong.

"what are you doing here?" you asked as you stood up, embarrassed by the fact that he's witnessing you cry. "take it," his voice is gentle as he offered the handkerchief. you reached it and wiped your tears. you're preventing yourself from crying in front of him, but tears kept flowing. "don't mind me and just go back there," you said with a shaky voice, trying to sound dismissive. "i'm not leaving you here," his voice is barely above a whisper. you wonder how he managed to say those words because you were the one who ended things with him even though he didn't want to. you continued to cry, feeling bad about yourself.
