This is the acupressure point I use to help put my baby to sleep—and it works on adults too. It’s called Yintang (印堂), the point located between the eyebrows, sometimes called the “Hall of Impression” in Chinese medicine. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yintang is commonly used to calm the Shen (spirit), settle the mind and promote relaxation, which is why it’s often used for restlessness and sleep. For my baby, I gently massage the point with my thumb using slow, light circular motions when I’m trying to settle him before bed. I use it on myself too. When I’m wired and having trouble sleeping, I ask my acupuncturist to put a needle in Yintang and I immediately pass out. I love that the same point I’ve used in acupuncture for myself is now part of my baby’s bedtime routine :) Save this and try gently massaging the Yintang the next time you—or your baby—need help winding down. Listen to episode 72 - “The Chinese Baby Practices I Swear By” on my podcast HOT WATER
