My grandma travels to the states yearly and nearly every time she has had to deal with fraud because of them taking her card when at a restaurant

A genuine question from a canadian to americans: Is it considered rude or "more work"/complicated to ask for seperate bills at a restaurant?

This is true but we used to take the credit card away too. We’ve been using hand held probably for about 12 years.
