In a pan heat some oil over medium heat. Fry your onion, garlic, and serrano pepper. 2. When fragrant add in your can of beans, and a cup of water. 3. Bring to simmer. Lower heat, and then begin mashing the beans. Add salt & pepper to taste. Let them simmer for a few mins till thickened. Make sure to stir so they don’t burn on the bottom. Serve and enjoy babe! :) 4 Hour version: Ingredients: 1lb bag of dry pinto beans 1/2 a white onion 4 garlic cloves 1 Serrano pepper 2 dried chile de árbol Directions: 1. Sort through your died beans to make sure there are no bad ones or any rocks. Rinse throughly & let them soak for 30mins. Toss out any floating beans! They’re bad!! 2. Bring 10 c of water to a boil in a pot over med heat. Add in onion, 3 garlic cloves, and Serrano. Once boiling add in your beans. 3. Bring water back to a boil. Lower heat to medium low heat. Cover and cook for 1:30 hrs. Stir every so often to make sure they’re not sticking and that they still have enough water. If you add water make sure you bring back to boil before covering :) 4. At the 1:30 mark check to see if beans are soft. If they are add salt. If not cover and check again in 15mins. They have to be soft before you add salt!! 5. Once you’ve added salt cover and cook until done about another 30mins. The total cook time should be 2-3hrs or so. 6. When ready to fry. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. 7. Add handful of onions, 1 garlic clove, add chile de árbol after a couple mins. Fry until fragrant. Watch ur peppers and make sure they don’t burn. 8. Add 3c of your beans, and 1/2 c (1c if you want them more runny) of the bean water. 9. Once simmering, lower heat, mash the beans. Let it simmer for a couple mins to let them thicken up. Stir often so they don’t burn on the bottom. Add a lil pepper. Adjust salt if needed. Serve and enjoy babe! #refriedbeans #mexicanrecipes #beans
