umm master VW tech here. all you have to do is transfer the outside temp. and this only occurs cause they disconnected it and turned the ignition on.

Easy fix - keep battery disconnected until repair is complete and everything is plugged back in. You learn this early on with German cars!

The valve in the compressor goes bad in those vws its very common. one C clip and a little patience 😅.

You can change the compressor control valve separately. Common fail point in those.

You turned the ignition on while the car was apart, didn’t you. Any major work on a VW should be done with the battery disconnect
