@crimeatyourfingertips: A stepfather was arrested after a two-year-old girl from St. George di3d in the hospital from injuries caused by CA. Randy Lessing, 29, was arrested Tuesday on one count of CA Homicid3, a first-degree felony of the d3ath of Emmaline Marie Mitchell. A probable cause statement identified the child who died as 2-year-old girl & reports that she was taken to the hospital due to significant brain & head trauma in July. Lessing was the stepfather to the child & told police he was at a home by himself with the girl in St. George when she fell & became unconscious. He said she, "must have flung herself backward off of her toddler bed (throwing a tantrum) hitting her head on the ground,". Due to the child's injuries, she was flown to a hospital in Nevada, where doctors reported that her injuries were obviously consistent with CA. Unfortunately, Emmaline was declared d3ad on 24th July 2023. Later, Lessing confessed to police that he had lied about how the child received her injuries. Officials looked at the criminal history of Lessing & found he was a convicted felon on probation. Due to retaliation concerns voiced by the child's family, he is being held without bail. A memorial for Emmaline and celebration of life will be held on Aug. 19. "Bring plants & flowers that remind you of her, to decorate the space. We will drink some sparkling cider & raise a toast to Emmaline Marie Mitchell & talk about memories of her with everyone else and celebrate her life together," according to the event listing on Facebook. "We hope for the day to be full of joy & love like she would want, not like a classic funeral because, oh boy, would she be bored." Emmaline's mother, on Facebook, said her daughter was a "precious soul." "She had a contagious smile and laugh that could turn any day into the best day," said her mother, ZzKora Ringger Fullmer. "Emmaline loved all animals, especially her puppy Opal. Kitties and duckies were some of her favorite friends. Emmaline was always a happy little girl and rarely had a bad day." Emmaline di3d of shaken baby syndrome, according to her mother, who also stated her daughter's organs were donated after her d3ath "to help others have a better life."
