My top tips for visiting Argentinian patagonia 🫶🌎 1. Pack the right clothes! - Further north in Argentina may be hot and sunny but in Patagonia, even in summer when the sun is shining it can still feel cold ❄️ - At the top of mountains it can be super windy so take gloves, hat, layers etc with you - Outside of summer you may need crampons or other equipment, check with your hostel and you can rent in the local area (but do so in advance to avoid missing out!) 2. Take cash with you - ATMs everywhere in Argentina have steep fees ($15 per transaction) and there are very few banks/ western unions - ATMs and the banks often run out of cash so if you do need them, go early, but save yourself the hassle and take cash! 3. There is very limited cell signal in the national parks - Download an offline map beforehand and consider downloading your walking routes too - WiFi can be a bit dodgy in places so try to let things download overnight rather than rushing on the morning of your walk 4. Learn some basic Spanish! - I would say do this with the language for every country you visit but in Patagonia many people didn't speak English so just try to learn some basics! - Download the Spanish language on Google translate so that you can use it offline too! 5. Have some prior plan for your trip - Buses are LONG and you may need to factor a whole day of travel in to your itinerary so make sure you know the durations and timings in advance so you're prepared - Flights, especially if not from BA, only run direct on certain days depending on your destination so again just check beforehand so you can plan your route around this info!
