No watering needed, throughout winter it layed dormant and the cold season helps garlic cloves form into a full bulb. By April, it started to sprout and we amended with a balance fertilizer. By June, curly garlic scape started to apear right at the center. We remove this so that the plant can focus it's energy to develop bigger bulbs. Garlic scape are a seasonal delicacy and are quite delicious. By Mid July when 2-3 of the bottom leaves have completely turned brown, they are ready for harvest. You can leave them longer up until the fifth leaves have turned brown. However, don't wait too long to harvest because an over ripe garlic can start to sprout and will mold mold much faster when stored. By August, we completed the curing process by hanging the garlic in bunches in a warm, dry, well ventilated area for 2-4 weeks. If you plant to grow garlic in Spring vs Winter season.
