@registerednursern.com: Dosage Calculations Nursing Hacks & Tips to Pass! Dosage calculations is a math course you have to take in nursing school. Nursing students often dread taking this class, especially when they struggle with math of any kind. However, the good news is that you can definitely learn how to do these calculations. Here are some simple tips to pass this class: 1. Be prepared for an exam or quiz on day one. While some nursing schools may not do this, mine did almost every semester that I took this course! 2. Know thy schooll's rounding rules. The way you round your answers can completely change your answer! You generally wait to round to the end, and you don't want any trailing zeroes. Nevertheless, know exactly what your school wants you to do. 3. There are multiple methods you can use. You can use the formula method, desired over have, or dimensional analysis. My personal favorite is dimensional analysis. However, keep in mind that some schools want you to use ONE method and show your work. 4. Memorize the metric table (trust me). 5. Practice all the time. This is the key to getting good at this.
