Oh good God, not in H265 please! You will have a footage with lower resolution in a strong codec. You have to use prores!

H265 or H264 is a big no no for proxies. Even tho the files are small it’s a rough codec to playback. Always use prores proxy.

the free version of resolve does not have hardware decoding/encoding like the paid version. h265 will be a pain no matter what. h264 works very well

don't use proxies. convert to mezzanine codec like prores. plug laptop in, use 32gb minimum memory in dual channel. 16gb two sticks
