Need to fire caulk with CP606. Tape and joint compound only good for drywall seams. Need to learn wall systems for penetrations.

The HVAC pipe isn’t rated so it can’t pass through a for wall. Rock wool and fire caulk the joints. But only 1/2” board for a fire/smoke wall?

Where I come from we fire rated mechroom before other trades come in . And we use fire rated drywall . But Canada is different unfortunately

Any penetration that’s overs 2” not steel rated needs a fire rated collar. If it’s fire separated ducts need fire dampers at penetrations.
