as someone who works in ems. sometimes it’s a distracting factor. if the pt thinks about something else even for a second it could help.

I was having a stroke and the paramedics joked with the nurses about how they hated their jobs while laying me down and they took my jewelry even tho I didn't get scans, I never got it back.

I was in an ambulance when I had appendicitis at 9 (being transferred) and was alone in the back with a guy. he was the nicest man ever. Comforted me and even let me keep the blanket cuz I wanted it
