Recipe ⬇️ For the Cake 1 1/3 cups cake flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened 5 large eggs 1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/3 cup milk For the Milk Syrup 1 cup sweetened condensed milk 1 cup evaporated milk 1 cup whole milk 1 tablespoon light rum (optional) For the Whipped-Cream Topping 1 cup heavy cream 1 teaspoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Bake the Cake: Mix the cake flour and baking powder in a small bowl and set aside. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and keep mixing until it’s light and foamy. Slowly fold in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until you get a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a greased 7 × 11 × 2-inch pan (or something similar). Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean and the top bounces back when you touch it. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then flip it onto a serving plate. Use a fork to poke holes all over the cake, and let it cool completely. Make the Milk Syrup: Whisk all the syrup ingredients together in a bowl until well mixed. Pour the syrup evenly over the cooled cake, then cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to let the cake soak it up. Make the Whipped Cream: Chill the cream, your mixing bowl, and beaters or whisk in the fridge for a bit. Once cold, beat the cream until it starts to thicken.
