I had a newer Chevrolet ambulance data line was dropping every now and then. Was bad data lines to the tcm. I ran new wires. Was hard to find.

A scope is simple. It’s a voltage measure over time. Like looking at a wheel speed sensor. Data lines run a signal of 0 an 1s. Off and on.

Had a ‘03 Avalanche 5.3L and it would go into 4 Low or limp mode. Both transfer case switch and dash module were bad.

I would find a gm tcm the a/m ones are trash hard to say without being there but I fixed a pick up last week with a a/m tcm with a used gm one

Sounds exactly like my base model g5. I swapped engine and ecm to make it a vvt engine and since the swap I can not get the ecm to see the Tcm.

if you are sure the hardware is connected with no broken wires move to software. can you flash updates to both control modules?

Be worth trying a ignition switch. Other then that run new data wires between ecm and tcm. I know you tested them. But still might be bad.
