Barrett appreciation post ((he’s so Reputation-coded😭 - Frederick Barrett was a leading firemen (ie., stoker—though he himself has mentioned a distinction between the two terms) on Titanic. At the start of Titanic’s maiden voyage, he was responsible in putting off the coal fire occurred in the coal bunker near boiler room no. 6 (*dear coal fire theorists, this is not where the ship struck the iceberg). During the iceberg collision, he was on duty and aided the engineers on mitigating the damages from the flooding in the boiler rooms no. 6 and no. 5. Later, he made it to lifeboat no. 13 where he helped cutting the falls when it was almost crushed by the descending lifeboat no. 15 during its launch. After the sinking, he was one of the key witnesses in both American and British Inquiries. He was portrayed in the Titanic Musical, though his character seemed to be an amalgamation with Frederick William Barrett, a stoker who died in the sinking who happened to share the same name as Barrett.
