@tierrasolstudio: So many of the plants we see advertised as “houseplants” are…well…not. So many people think they kill plants but most of the big big store plants are set up incorrectly and are landscaping plants. These plants don’t thrive in homes, but as a kid growing up in Florida, I would see many of them thriving as bushes and never did I see any indoors. And if plants like Crotons cannot do well indoors and only thrives as a bush in tropical regions—I think they should be exclusively sold as a landscaping plant in the tropics—Not as a houseplant across the US. Most big box store succulents, like echeverias, are too delicate for indoor moisture and light levels, and they would be much better off as landscaping plants in a dry region. Fig trees are happy and enormous in so many regions, but are notoriously sad and challenging indoors. And somehow they have become one of the most popular indoor plants. And most ferns also do much better outdoors than indoors. This is why we tested all of our plant kits for years in a variety of indoor spaces to figure out for ourselves: • Which plants are hardiest indoors • What each plan needs in a planter and soil to replicate its natural environment • And exactly how much water to give a plant indoors Because it’s not that you’re a plant killer, it’s just that most plants are set up incorrectly and aren’t great for indoors!
