@earthome.studios: Processing wild clay that I found - PART 2 - “Wet Processing” method. In part 1, I found the most beautiful wild clay & now I need to process it. Fortunately for me, the clay I found was very pure & didn’t have a lot of rocks, silt, twigs, etc but I treated it as if it did. I did not add any temper to my wild clay (which is sand or other non plastic materials) that’s added to clay to prevent shrinkage and cracking during drying & firing of the vessels. The clay I found had sand in it & that’s what I used as the “temper”. The pros to wet processing is you can essentially clean your clay very well & filter out any impurities fairly quickly after letting it soak in water then sieving it through a strainer. In PART 3 I will be dry processing the wild clay & comparing which method might be a better option for the type of clay you found! You might find that your clay acts different than mine & most foraged wild clay will have more twigs & rocks in it that needs to be sieved out a few more times than I did in this video.
