DIY 🔨 How to Install Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring Installing LVP flooring is easier than you think! We’ve floored 3 houses and here’s our tips and tricks to beautiful LVP floors! BUYING LVP I recommend purchasing LVP that has padding attached to the planks already – that will save you time so you don’t need to worry about laying underlayment. Also, be sure you buy LVP that has a beveled edge as that provides a better seal along the edge to prevent lifting. TOOLS YOU NEED - Flooring Mallet - Tapping Block - Speed Square - Utility Knife - Tape Measure - Pull Bar - Jig Saw (optional – we use this for rounded cuts) - Table Saw (optional - we use this for long cuts, but you can use a utility knife instead) PREP FLOORING DESIGN I prefer to lay pieces out a row at a time before installing, that way I can vary the different patterns in each plank. FLOORING LAYOUT The first row you lay is the most important. Lay the first row about ¼ inch from the wall as flooring needs room to expand and contract. LOCK FLOORING TOGETHER The nice thing about LVP is that it’s a snap and lock system. You simply start by interlocking each piece together and using the mallet to set each piece. Then uses the tapping block to level them. CUTTING LVP Cutting LVP is easy – all you need is a utility knife and a speed square – after 3 cuts with the razor you can snap the flooring in half. REDUCE WASTE With the left over piece you just cut you can start your next row – this will help reduce wasted material. Also, be sure your joints are nicely staggered – you don’t want joints to close to each other. Once you get your rhythm it goes pretty quickly. Don’t let flooring intimidate you – this is such a simple DIY that can totally transform your home. Let me know if you have any questions! 👇 #lvpflooring #lvpflooringinstall #luxuryvinylflooring #diyfloors #luxuryvinylplank
