Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He is known around the world as one of the greatest leaders in history. He was a man of courage, powerful words, and peaceful ideas.
As a child, Martin was very curious and asked many questions. He loved reading and learning new things. His parents taught him that all people are equal, no matter their color or background. However, young Martin saw many unfair laws in his country that treated Black people badly. These laws were known as segregation.
Martin Luther King Jr. was an excellent student. At only fifteen years old, he went to college, which was very unusual for someone so young. He later became a preacher, like his father, and used his strong voice to speak about justice and equality. He believed deeply in non-violence, inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
He became world famous during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Martin led peaceful marches and protests demanding equal rights for Black Americans. His most famous moment was his “I Have a Dream” speech, where he spoke of a future where people would “not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
Martin Luther King Jr. always dreamed of a world without racism, hatred, or war. Sadly, he was killed on April 4, 1968, but his dream lives on. Today, he is remembered as one of the greatest heroes of peace, hope, and freedom.
He will forever be known as a man who changed the world with his voice, his dream, and his peaceful fight for justice.
