@floriangadsby: What a simple pleasure throwing simple mugs is. Out of all the making I do, producing a few boards of straight, cylinders like this, is perhaps one of my favourite processes in the studio. Pottery, mindfulness and meditation get chucked in together often. There is course something to be said about working with your hands and not being able to check your phone, (especially for beginners, as clay and technology don’t go hand in hand), that is therapeutic and calming. Yet, once throwing pots becomes your job, it can end up being stressful, just like anything else. There are days when throwing is the last thing I want to do. But, throwing these mugs especially, in the right moment of course, leads to making that I find blissful. My hands are occupied and my mind is intently listening to the audiobook playing in the workshop, which means that I’m not really concentrating on anything. Muscle memory takes over and the story captivates me. These are the moments on the wheel I look forward to. #madeinlondon #wheelthrownpottery #pottery #howitsmade #oddlysatisfying
