@lara_kristiin: UNIQUE CHURCH IN VIENNA 🇦🇹 📌 Franz-von-Assisi-Kirche, Mexikoplatz 12, 1020 Vienna, Austria This unique building in Vienna reminds more of a fairy-tale castle than a church. The Franz-von-Assisi-Kirche - in any case, one of the most unusual churches in Vienna. 🏰 The church was built for the 50th throne anniversary of emperor Franz Joseph and is visible even from afar with its red spires.👑 🔭 How to get the best view: Cross the street (Handelskai) and continue towards the Danube. From there you can admire the church in all its glory and take great photos. For a higher viewpoint go further on the bridge. 📷 💎 Don’t miss this hidden gem: Be sure to visit the interior of the church. There you will find a real gem - the Empress Elisabeth Memorial Chapel (Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Gedächtnis-Kapelle). It was built in honor of Empress Sisi on the occasion of her assassination and is a stunning example of Art Nouveau. You can find it to the left of the altar. ⛪️ 🚇 How to get there: Take the subway U1 to station “Vorgartenstraße” (only 4 stops from the center - Stephansplatz) Ⓜ️ 🚨Be aware: Please be aware that the area around Mexikoplatz is not one of the best places in Vienna, especially if you compare it to the rest of the city!
