@vballtactics: Via @thevolleyballpackage ⚡️Become A Better Blocker, With These 3 Tips ⚡️ Drumroll Please 🥁: ✨My 3rd Tip - is too “shrug them shoulders” Doing so will help you be able to reach further & actually penetrate to push the ball down.✨ Make yourself as big as possible! Although those are my top 3 things to work on when blocking - there are a lot of other variables that still need to be addressed. To become a better blocker requires a combination of technique, positioning, timing, and anticipation. Here’s a breakdown of more of my fav 🤩 key steps to enhance your blocking skills: ⚡️Proper Footwork and Positioning: Start with a solid base. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight balanced on the balls of your feet.Position yourself close to the net, with your outside shoulder facing the hitter and your hands ready to extend over the net. ⚡️Timing and Anticipation: Watch the hitter’s approach and body movements closely. Try to predict when they’ll jump to hit the ball. Focus on the setter’s hands to anticipate the direction of the set and the potential hitting angle of the attacker. ⚡️Penetration and Reach: As the hitter jumps, you should jump too, aiming to reach your highest point at the net. Extend your arms fully over the net, with your fingers pointing slightly downward and your palms facing the opponent’s side of the court. ⚡️Sealing the Net: Press your hands and forearms firmly over the net to create a barrier that forces the hitter to hit around you. Angle your hands slightly in the direction you anticipate the ball will come from, making it harder for the hitter to find an opening. ⚡️Eye on the Ball: Keep your eyes on the ball throughout the hitter’s approach and as they make contact. This helps you adjust your position and timing as needed. 🚨Pro-Tip: Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re probably right! Now, get after IT and go block some balls 🙌🏽🧱
