If you’re doing a no buy or low buy in 2025 or you just want to live and spend a little more minimalist-ish in 2025, then this is the biggest habit shift you’re going to have to make to truly feel like this is your new lifestyle, and not something short term or like a diet: you need to CHOOSE HARD. As in, finding new hobbies that you enjoy that has nothing to do with shopping. Something creative or challenging that stimulates your brain and delivers more expensive forms of dopamine to your system, rather than the cheap, instantaneous form of dopamine you’re used to getting from shopping.  One of my favourite ways to choose hard is at the gym - it’s been an amazing outlet to challenge my mind and body in ways I never thought possible, and if we’re honest, when you feel good in your body you’re going to feel better in your clothes anyway.  When you choose hard, you have to overcome short term pain to get to a more sustained feeling of pleasure and accomplishment on the other side. Now compare that to choosing easy, like bedrotting on Tiktok for hours or impulse buying yet another water bottle or scented body wash just to feel something. Sure, You get short term pleasure in the moment, but usually you feel like 💩 after. And so does your bank account.  I think the true meaning of No buys and low buys is to rewire your brain. The one way to do that is by choosing hard - so what yours going to be?
