@taylorpolcyn2: SEMESTER AT SEA | Woah!!! It’s actually happening! I bought this map when I was 13, and hung it on my wall with the dream of traveling the world someday. I put pins in all the midwest states I traveled to for volleyball tournaments, because that was as far as I got. I also put pins in dream destinations, like Santorini, Thailand, and Barcelona. What a surreal feeling to know those dreams are about to come true!! WHAT. I simply cannot fathom. It’s time!!!! I’m feeling gratitude beyond words for the opportunity to participate in @semesteratsea. I also feel happy, excited, fearful, sad, anxious, exhilarated, giggly, nervous, [extremely] underprepared, stressed, and I think just about every other feeling possible. But that’s kind of awesome. Los primeros discos como "Bathory" y "Under the Sign of the Black Mark" en los 80 definieron el sonido del black metal: crudo, rápido y con letras oscuras sobre lo oculto y lo anticristiano. Luego, a finales de los 80 y principios de los 90, cambió el rumbo con discos como "Blood Fire Death" y "Hammerheart". Ahí bajó la velocidad, metió coros épicos y letras sobre vikingos, mitología nórdica y batallas. Ese cambio inventó básicamente lo que hoy llamamos viking metal. Casi siempre grabó todo él solo: guitarra, bajo, voz y programaba la batería. Era muy reservado, daba pocas entrevistas y casi nunca tocó en vivo con Bathory. También sacó dos discos solista como Quorthon en los 90, más orientados al rock. Murió el 3 de Junio del 2004 a los 38 años por un problema cardíaco. Aunque nunca buscó fama, su influencia es enorme.
