if it’s above a certain amount and the customer doesn’t have balances to cover the check, we put a 7 day extended hold on the check

It’s crazy that “depositing” a check can take so long to verify but I can walk into my bank and cash the check right then and there

There are 3 financial institutions in our area that will verify personal checks and there are a couple who won’t verify ANY type of check.

The CU I used to bank with once put a FOURTEEN DAY hold on a check. I don’t bank there anymore.

So just cash the checks pay the fee and avoid holds got it! After waiting so long for them to clear my paycheck and it put me in a bad way the bank don’t have to ever worry about out me again

Most banks around us don’t verify checks over the phone so we have to place the holds. Customers get so upset but they’ll be more upset if it’s fraud!

Cashiers checks have to make 5525.00 available next day, but remainder can be held for 7 bus days. Large dollar exception hold.

I am a bank manager and just deposited an IRS check yesterday They are trying to place a 60 day hold on it after being verified yesterday when deposited I am fighting this as we speak
