![My family rarely took photos growing up. Moments just passed by, and we didn't really stop to capture them. About three years ago, I decided to change that. So every year for her birthday, we do a photoshoot just for her. My mom is the kind of person who never really does anything for herselt. Even when she wants to, she'll ask everyone around her first, almost like she needs permission to take up a little space. Birthdays were never a big thing in our family either. We didn't really celebrate them. But that always felt like something I wanted to change. Now, every year before her birthday comes around, she reminds me that it's coming up. And together we plan this entire shoot just for her. It's become our little tradition, a day where she gets to exist in front of the camera, celebrated, seen, and documented in a way she rarely allows herself to be. And it felt fitting to share this today on International Women's Day because if there's anyone who represents quiet strength, sacrifice, and love, it's her.
