@builtbybec: Finishing up this herringbone floating desk! Here’s how I apply my stain... - 1. Always apply a pre-stain conditioner (especially on pine). You don’t want uneven stain! 2. Wait 15 minutes then wipe off the excess with a clean rag. 3. Shake up your can of stain VERY well. You want all that pigment that has settled in the bottom to mix back in. 4. Apply the stain with a rag in the direction of the grain. I usually buy painters rags at Home Depot. 5. Wipe off excess with a clean rag. You DONT want the excess to dry, or you will have blotchy marks and stain that doesn’t want to dry properly. 6.
