@missclairebenjamin: 🚨 Handling the “annoying” one 👇 🧠 It’s pretty natural that sometimes people we manage are going to annoy us or do things that are having a negative impact on us (often unintentionally). When this happens, our natural reaction as the manager is often to criticise them and tell them what behaviour we DON’T want or what behaviour we want them to STOP doing. As shown in the first part of this video. 💡Here’s the thing- we all HATE being criticised. It gets our defences up and makes us want to rebel against someone’s request even if it’s reasonable. This makes our life really difficult as a manager and is a really common mistake that can be easily avoided. 🔥 If instead you approach it from the opposite angle and focus on what behaviour you DO WANT it’s a total game changer and will likely result in the person being receptive to your request. ▶️ People are often unaware of how they’re coming across or impacting us and until we communicate what we need from them they’re not going to know there is an issue. 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised. You know your situation better than anyone else so trust your instincts, if this doesn’t fit your situation ignore it.
