@ashleytaylorwellness: 2 REASONS I CHOOSE NOT TO MEDICATE A FEVER WITH TYLENOL **not medical advice, for educational purposes only** A fever is a temporary increase in body temperature in a response to an illness/infection/pathogen. 1️⃣ A fever is a natural defense mechanism of the body, indicating that our immune system is fighting off something & doing it’s job! In most cases, a fever is not a cause for concern, especially if it is mild or moderate. ➡️ It helps the body in fighting off the infection. However, in some situations, such as very high temperatures or prolonged fevers, it may be necessary to seek medical attention. 2️⃣ Tylenol (aka acetaminophen) depletes our glutathione levels Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, has been found to deplete levels of glutathione in the liver. Glutathione is an important antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage. When acetaminophen is metabolized in the liver, it can produce a toxic byproduct called N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI). Glutathione plays a crucial role in neutralizing and eliminating this toxic byproduct. Prolonged or excessive use of acetaminophen, especially at high doses, can deplete glutathione levels in the liver and potentially lead to liver damage. What I do when I have a fever: 🤒 Cancel plans and stay home! 🤒 Rest as much as possible 🤒 Hydrate with water with plenty of electrolytes/minerals 🤒 Ice packs to back of neck/face/head #tylenol #fever #immuneresponse #immunesystem #acetaminophen #glutathione #liver
