Johnny Cash met June Carter and the two became infatuated with each other. In 1968, during a live performance in London, Ontario he proposed to her. Thecouple married on March 1, 1968. They have one child together, John Carter Cash, born March 3, 1970. Valerie June Carter Cash (née Carter; born June 23, 1929 – May 15, 2003. A five-time Grammy award-winner, she was a member of the Carter Family. In April 2003 Carter was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve. She had the surgery on May 7, however afterwards her health deteriorated rapidly over the next few days and she died on May 15, 2003, at the age of 73. Johnny Cash died four months after Carter's death, on September 12, 2003, and Carter's daughter, Rosie Nix Adams, died a month after that on October 24, 2003 (aged 45).
