@audrey_fit: Let’s talk about functional testing vs. conventional testing Conventional labs are meant to test for illness or disease states. Western medicine is designed to diagnose and treat symptoms associated with illness. If you receive testing done through your Dr., you aren’t getting the full picture. These basic tests aren’t checking our reproductive hormones, thyroid hormoneS<— (emphasis on more than just TSH and T4), adrenal function, and more. Furthermore, the ranges are extremely wide. What’s normal in comparison to an already primarily sick population is not what’s considered optimal. If you don’t fall out of these wide range, you’re told you’re totally fine. Yet before we get sick, we fall on the outer ranges… Functional testing is aiming for optimal. Acknowledging suboptimal levels allow you to catch a problem before it persists and becomes a diagnosable disease. Functional testing is also designed to look for the root cause. The body works as a dynamic system and it’s important to get the full picture. We know our lifestyle, diet, and environment have the largest influence on our health and yet these things are often not even asked about during a standard consult. Not all things can be healed from a functional route but for most of us who live in the in-between, advanced functional testing can finally provide us with the answers we’ve been in need of. At the Metabolic Makeover Academy we acknowledge the importance of advanced functional testing and weave that into our coaching. Our hormones and gut health play huge role in our metabolism and body composition! Join us on Sept. 19th as we uncover the 3 untold truths behind “eat less and move more” and how following that model could be preventing you from losing more body fat. Link in bio!
