The atmosphere back then had much higher levels of oxygen in the atmosphere so the creatures and plant life were much bigger

My thoughts on why they got so big could be completely wrong but remember plants, insects etc. were also much bigger. I think there was more oxygen and less gravity. Just has been my thought.
