@alexandruhg: How is this normal? He has these meltdowns 24/7 and bangs his head. I'm losing it. I feel absolutely horrible. This is all because he refuses to eat anything but purees at almost 2 and we are trying to ween him off. EVERYTHING is a meltdown. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't believe that majority of toddlers behave this way. I find it hard to believe that others do this as often as he does and this intense. #toddlermom #firsttimemom #foryou #toddler #meltdown #toddlermeltdowns

the fact so many people in these comments are trying to diagnose a toddler for simply having a meltdown is beyond me..

Please don’t ever post a meltdown. Coming from an autistic adult…. Your child cannot consent.

Its most likely a sensory thing especially if he’s only wanting to eat purées, have him screened for autism

I would say he has sensory issues. Also could have autism. I highly recommend you contacting Early Intervention or a Developmental Pediatrician.

My son was diagnosed with Obsession Defiance order, ADHD and on the spectrum at this age because of this exact reason. Have him looked at.

My kids never had meltdowns like this. So for me this isn’t normal, but i am so sorry. I’m sure this is so exhausting for everyone.

Have you tried therapy ? My girl had issues with switching to solids and would flip out . We did a month of therapy and it worked wonders ! I also encouraged playing with her food and different textures before eating it 💕 hope things have gotten better!

I mean is it a communication issue? Usually kids have meltdowns because they can't properly explain what they want/need.

Sounds stupid but if it’s not anything like adhd or autism, cut out food dyes!! Made a huge difference for mine!

Honestly looks like typical frustration meltdown. My middle son when through that for a month or two. We generally redirected his attention elsewhere

It could be nothing, but possibly autism and I would talk to his pediatrician about your concerns. My son is autistic and his meltdowns can be awful

try talking to him and letting him know you understand why he is frustrated but why he needs to add more yummy foods and make it fun.

I’m going to sound like one of ~those people~ but a lot of parents have said they see a difference in tantrums when they took dyes out of their foods

I am so sorry. Please show your pediatrician & an occupational therapist; I think this is sensory discomfort (sensory tactile issues) ;& does he also have trouble with transitioning from one thing to another?

Possibly test for autism and sensory disorder. My son was like this at two and it was a long road to get him to speak and eat. He is still picky but

I have 3 boys 1 with autism. Food aversions and behavior issues can be a sign especially if there are other concerns. They have food therapists too

As many have said, it seems like there could be something more going on here. Def speak with pedi, and consider asking about different therapies.
