I haven’t tried it but, I’ve read if you boil down the apples (like you did) strain and reduce the liquid then add it to your jellies it works better

Here in Michigan Thimbleberries (kind of a sour raspberry) has so much pectin in it makes that it’s own jam just with sugar

I save my Apple peels when canning and dehydrate/grind them and use that as pectin. I need about double grocery store pectin per recipe by weight

if you use the back of your knife on the cob after getting the kernels you can get all the baby kernels still on the cob also you get a lot of juice

we use pectin in wine because it breaks down the sugars in water soluble meaning more alcohol in fermentation 😛
