@katerobbllc: If you're looking to launch your very first business, I could give you a million and one reasons why Etsy is a superior platform to Shopify. But let me narrow it down to my top 3... 1. Etsy is its own search engine! Instead of learning how to get your brand to show up on the first page of Google search results, your objective is getting your PRODUCT to show up on the first page of Etsy's platform. And with the right tools, this is a super achievable goal - even for new sellers. 2. 90 million (or more) active users Etsy is a huge platform full of customers who are actively shopping for new products - just like yours. Because of this, Etsy is constantly promoting new products to their shoppers, meaning you get to focus more on designing products and less on getting them in front of buyers. 3. Finances & Legal Oftentimes, the finances and legal components of running a business are what scare people off the most. Because Etsy is such a large platform, they handle the collection of sales tax on your behalf. While there are obviously still some elements of bookkeeping involved, it's a much lower lift than a Shopify store is. While I always recommend you keep scaling your business in mind - and the possibility to open a Shopify store eventually is always on the table - I believe Etsy is overall a much more approachable platform for new sellers.
