@we.are.america24: We Are America documentary coming soon 2024 It was Claudette Colvin who was the FIRST to refuse to give up her seat to our Oppressors. But, not many know her story due to the fact that colorism played a huge factor. She did not recieve the same attention because she didnt fit the the movement's "beauty standards" at the time. She did not have "good hair", she was not light-skinned, she was a teenager and she was pregnant. Throughout this period of time & even now, many of our darker-skinned Black Women who have been the backbone of the movement, have faced these same issues.
