@halalfoodsydney: Halawa Choklatia / Halib ✨ Also known as an Iraqi milk toffee that can be flavoured using cardamom or saffron, today I'll be doing the saffron version a simple and inexpensive dessert that is addictively good 😋 Sugar syrup 3 cup sugar 1.5 cup water 1/2 tsp saffron grinded 1 tsp lemon juice 1 cup flour 1 cup cornflour 1 cup milk powder 250 gram butter or ghee Sugar syrup : Boil all ingredients excluding lemon for 10min, turn off heat and add lemon juice 1. Melt butter in pan 2. Add dry ingredients on med heat and mix for about 15 to 20mins or until it goes a caramel colour (the darker the colour the more bitter the caramel will be) 3. Right before you add the sugar syrup add 3 tbsp spoons desiccated coconut mix for 1 min then add syrup 4. Add the sugar syrup and mix for 2 - 3 minutes till its the right texture (not too thick and not too thin) 5. Pour into flat plates of choic 6. Garnish with walnuts, pistachios or coconut
