I immediately started feeling teary at first when my woman started dancing in. I had already danced in before, and when she came in, at some point, she was asked to find me and bring me up. Why was she asked to find me? Well, culture. 😅 Throughout that time, I kept holding back my tears because I didn’t understand the tears at first. I mean, I had seen her dance many times before, and I love to see it every time, but I blush and smile when she does, not cry. Also, I didn’t want my crying to take away from the fun of her trying to actually find me in the crowd, so I tried to hold my tears in. At some point when she started introducing me to her family, though, I stopped trying to hold back the tears. I just let it all out because I figured they were tears of awe for how far we’ve come. I felt like a warm, chilled embrace and joy all around and within me. I whispered, “We did it!” Because in this past decade, we’ve been through so much: the highs, the lows, and every single thing in between. And we’ve been through it all TOGETHER. And as I cried, I started having flashes in my mind and kept thinking about the fulfilling work it took to get here: the days I would intentionally sit for hours watching videos and learning about building a healthy relationship from people who have done the same and those who have committed their lives to helping others do so, and all that I intentionally learned, unlearned, and/or relearned (one of the reason being that I experienced and witnessed some difficult things in my family growing up, and I made up my mind from a very very young age to do everything to be and “build” better.) My mind flashed back to some of the many conversations we’ve had to figure things out, how we have worked to understand each other more and more, how blessed I am to have @Tife Akala as my woman, and how far we’ve come as one. 10 years of fulfilling work, growth, learning, and choosing each other. For us, this is not the beginning; it’s a continuation of our journey to forever. It’s 10 years down, forever to go. I’m still lost for words. I’m still in awe. I’m still taking it all in. I love you so much, my woman @teefehh_. May we never say goodbye.🥹😘
