@hudsonandemily: Please read this ❤️ The current situation for people living in Afghanistan is extremely difficult. It’s impossible to put into words how heartbreaking it was to hear people’s personal stories and see their current reality when we visited. Those of you who have been following our Afghanistan series know we hope to share about the kindness and joy of the people we met. (Thank you also so much to the people from Afghanistan who have reached out to us and for your kind words.) This is because traveling there gave us an even deeper heart for those people. Prior to visiting, we were praying for Afghanistan but all we knew were news headlines. But after having met people and heard their personal stories, we will never forget the imprint they left on our hearts. In our upcoming videos, we’ll be sharing more about the incredible people we met and places we experienced during our time in Afghanistan. But we also hope to shed light on the heartbreaking situation many people in Afghanistan are currently experiencing, and a way to directly help those people. I am crying again as I write this because the reality of Afghanistan is one of unimaginable uncertainty. For many people there, they’ve experienced this their entire lives. There is no way to explain the depth of their situation, but in addition to Afghanistan being one of the poorest countries in the world, the uncertainty and restrictions are continuing, from music being banned to people being killed if they become a Christian. Women face the most uncertainty and restrictions. They cannot: - Go to school past 6th grade - Work most professional jobs - Visit many public places such as neighborhood parks - And much more Yet more and more restrictions continue to be placed on women. Just the other month, women’s hair salons were ordered to be closed. And only weeks ago (after we had visited), yet another ban was added: visiting a national park, because “going sightseeing is not a must for women.” (CONTINUED IN COMMENT)
