@westonwillow: Don’t tell anyone about my secret cabinet 👀 Seriously though, making this faux hood cover was one of the best decisions I made while sprucing up this kitchen. Here are some tips if you are going to build one yourself: 1. MAKE THE MOCK UP! Visuals help so much and by making a mock up you can potentially cut down on a lot of mistakes. For example, in my mock up I originally wanted a slightly curved hood. Once I held it up I realized the curve didn’t really go with my home. 86’d that! 2. Don’t be afraid to get crafty with this. The front piece I made to cover the buttons was put together using whatever scrap pieces I had. Remember, the goal is for the skeleton to be structurally sound. It’s going to get covered up in the end so don’t worry about how it looks! 3. Use wood glue in addition to your screws for extra support. It’s honestly shocking how strong wood glue is and it just takes a couple extra seconds to apply. Happy building!
