I did this once in Amsterdam! They said they were booked for the night. I walked up a block and made reservation on the phone and came back lmfao 😭

This has happened to me as well. Even after I start speaking Japanese they still respond to me in English saying ‘sorry I don’t speak English’ 😂

In Kyoto we found a place run by an old couple and they seated us kindly. but another pair walked in after us and they said “reserve only!” (We didn’t make a reservation). Then the old couple turned to us and said “SAFE!” 😂 I think sometimes they just want to take it easy~
