@sensiblyhealth: Binoculars I used for spotting wildlife in Yellowstone. One night I started a frenzy because I was the first to spot a wolf in Hayden Valley. It was the alpha female. A second watcher confirmed the sighting in her scope. I had the opportunity to see it twice. Without binoculars or a good scope, its impossible to see the wolf among the brush. I really like the Vortex Diamondback HD (12x50). Its a good price point and has excellent clarity and brightness. The 12 stands for magnification, the 50 is the objective. Since we are often out at dust and dawn, the 50’s are nice as they let in quite a bit more light. There is some shake with the 12x magification and if you don’t have a steady hand opt for the 10x. I love that I could adjust the focus for each eye separately. Overall very satisfied with the purchase. If you go higher magnification, ensure it’s tripod mountable.
