A student asked me why I could have acrylic nails and they couldn’t. I asked if they wanted me to wear uniform too. They were horrified. 😆

I mean it’s the same reason the kids can’t drive a car home, or have a beer when they get in. Teachers are not kids and we can’t infantilise teachers.

Kids can’t do a lot of things that adults can: vote, drink alcohol, drive, etc. do we stop doing those things just because kids can’t? No

No, it’s not double standards. I’m an adult, I went to school as a student and obeyed the rules. I’m no longer a student. It’s not double standards.

The reasons for lots of things in school don’t apply to adults as much. Like squash in bottles, schools have responsibility to keep children healthy.
