@sacramentofoodforest: Why are wildfires in North America so bad now adays? That is a question I wish more people asked themselves. The answer may surprise you. California and Canada are covered in unhealthy second growth tree plantations that are logged every 50- 100 years Old growth logging is 100% unsustainable and planting monoculture tree farms is just making forest wildfires even worse. While hurting endangered species. And they are why we see so many mega fires in Canada and California. Just because a tree is tall it doesn't mean the ecosystem is thriving: These old growth redwood trees can be over 3 thousand years old and are extremely fire resistant. Sadly on 4% of these giant redwood trees remain in the wild. Protect old growth before it's all gone. #oldgrowthforest #logging #LearnOnTikTok #climateaction #redwood #forest #secondgrowth #bigtree #wildfire #tree #plantation #crisis #humboldt #california #nativeamerican #land #trees #redwoodforest #endangeredspecies #environment #nativeplants #eco #Sustainability #oldgrowth #PlantLover
